Happy International Women's Day! This day has always meant so much to me, now so more than ever before. This past year, I have been able to experience what it is like to be a female leader and what it means to be surrounded by other influential female innovators. However, due to these experiences, I have also dealt with the difficulties of leading as a woman in an environment of men and learning just how real the glass ceiling really is. This issue has always stuck with me because it not only is discrimination but simply unjust for women all over the world.
This is why it is so important for me to stand up as a feminist and empower myself to lead so that I can encourage others to do the same. I would never be where I am today in my leadership endeavours if it weren't for other women of all ages encouraging and pushing me to do my best and to thrive.
It has been difficult to be taken seriously as a young, female entrepreneur, but that has never stopped me. It only pushes me further and encourages me to stand up for what I believe in. I take on a role as a director in my extra-curriculars and in my growing brand and I cannot say that I haven't been mistreated or not given equal opportunities due to my gender.
As women, we should never have restrictions on any kind of advancement due to our gender and we should never be held back by society's image of "power" that is often granted to men. I challenge you to take on this initiative: either it is exploring a leadership role in your community or in your career or even just promising yourself to never let a man dictate your personal views towards yourself.
This is an ideal I carry around with me and what I always encourage in my content and in my brand. This is what I hope to encourage in all the women all around the world.
