People often find it difficult to give their makeup brushes a good clean or don’t even try to in the first place. Contrary to popular belief, cleaning your makeup brushes is very easy and can be very inexpensive. The secret you may ask? Baby shampoo. You heard that right. Baby shampoo is inexpensive and thoroughly cleans your brushes while being gentle on the bristles.
Now, for how it’s done:
Step 1: Wet your makeup brushes with lukewarm water
Step 2: Pour a drop of the baby shampoo in the palm of your hand and swirl your brush around to get the product in the brush
Step 3: Rinse your brushes with water, squeezing the excess water out as you do (if the stream is dirty then the brush is not fully clean)
*Repeat step 2 and 3 if necessary (for larger and dirtier brushes, this will be more effective)
Step 4: Dry off the excess water on the brush by rubbing it in a circular motion on a cloth
Step 5: Flat-lay the brushes out so they can dry overnight
Now, you have clean brushes that are ready to go! Make sure to clean your brushes once every one to two weeks. Not only is this better for the care of your brushes, but it also ensures that you are not using more product than you need and it keeps your skin clean (no built-up bacteria).
